Last weekend was mostly all about studying for a big exam that took place on Monday afternoon, but there were glimpses of greatness with my family intertwined. Doug bought me (and the girls) The Little Mermaid, since its
my our favorite movie and its finally available for purchase. Its been in the vault for like 25 years, because I think the last time I saw it was when I was 8 years old. On Friday evening Doug took the girls with him to pick up pizza, popcorn and treats for the movie, which gave me an hour home alone to study. Then the 4 of us sunk into the couch with blankets as we watched one of my favorite past times, The Little Mermaid. Don’t you think for a second that I didn’t sing every last word of every song. I did. Look at this stuff isn’t it neat wouldn’t you think my collections complete, wouldn’t think I’m the girl, girl who has everything…..
Saturday was 8 hours of study before I felt I deserved to attend our friend Todd’s birthday party. The fact that he and his family lives 4 houses down from us, and I was still close to my books, made it seem o.k. to me. It was a great and a much needed break with wonderful friends.
Happy birthday Todd!
Sunday we decorated the house for Halloween in between moments of me reading and studying for the big exam #2. The air feels fresher and a slight bit crisper now. So, we went outdoors to paint our pumpkins black, then added wings, eyes, and fangs to make bats.
This week has been so much fun. It was the first week of clinicals for me and my nursing classmates and a chance to finally work with patients again, but I’ll save that for another post.
Doug’s business partners son Michael and his fiancé Kendall are getting married this weekend and we are hosting the rehearsal dinner at our house tomorrow night. All week our house has smelled like an authentic Italian home as Doug has been working away on homemade meatballs, sauce and appetizers to serve at the dinner. He hung lights outside last night since the party will take place on the front lawn. It looks beautiful out there along with the tiki torches that line the sidewalk and yard. And, it couldn’t have fallen on a better weekend either, because this will be the one and only “break” weekend for the rest of the semester. I have no tests, skills or quizzes to study for and no projects due next week. I’m very excited to get in the kitchen and cook with Doug, host the dinner tomorrow night and attend the wedding on Saturday afternoon. It will allow the creative side of me to get the chance to play again while the science/ nursing side will have to wait until Monday morning.
My big Nursing 1 semester project is complete and I’m about to turn it in and then, let the weekend begin! Have a great weekend family and friends. xo
