Mother’s Day

To my two sweet girls, I’m so thankful and blessed to be your mom. You bring me great joy and lots of laughter. To my Goddaughter Harper, I’m excited to watch you grow and I feel blessed to have you in my life! To my dear mother and mother-in-law, I want to say thank you for your love, continual support and guidance. You both are amazing women that I admire. To my sister Emmy, I know you are going to be a wonderful mommy. I can’t wait for you to hold your baby and feel the most amazing amount of joy when baby Perry arrives in June/July. To my sister Crystal, you are a great mom to my beautiful niece Molly. I’m so excited for you and Jake to experience what it will be like to have a second child, and to see the joy and fun siblings have together. To my mom friends, I want to say thank you for your support, a listening ear when I need advice, and the fun we have together on play dates. I had a great weekend and I hope you did too.

Friday night we celebrated our friend Pam Hamilton’s birthday. It was great to spend time with her, Danny and some of our other close friends including Neal, Zoe, and Clayton. We had a lovely meal outdoors (at Danny and Pam’s), ate the best brownie sundaes, drank wine, took a tour through the horse barn and watched both horses perform tricks. We ended the evening in the living room listening to Neal sing, and Danny play guitar. They are amazing musicians. It would have been perfect if Doug had remembered his conga’s and Zoe her violin.

I got to sleep in Saturday for a bit, and had some time to myself at Barnes and Noble before I headed to my sisters to pick up the girls. They had a slumber party with their cousin Molly the night before. That night Doug got to perform with Neal and Danny at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center/Straz Center for a show/benefit with the original family from The Blind Side. I really wish I could have been there for that one. We haven’t seen the movie yet, but plan on it soon. Doug was so inspired by their story and said it was amazing. The girls and I spent the evening out shopping for a baby dedication gift for our Goddaughter Harper. A few weeks ago our dear friends Ray and Nicole asked Doug and I if we would be their daughter Harper’s Godparents. We felt so honored and without hesitation accepted. She is such a sweet and beautiful little girl that we are excited to watch grow, learn and make memories with. Yesterday morning was her baby dedication. It was an honor to be apart of the ceremony and celebration afterwards especially on Mother’s Day.

Then we headed home for naps. After dinner and dropping off a Mother’s Day gift to a second Mother of our’s, the girls gave me their gift. The day before Doug took them to Target to pick out something for me. Doug asked Sara what she thought I would like and she said, “ Shoes, a new purse, a book or coupons.” She was dead on. I got the purse. I love it! Good taste girls. It’s big and has a ton of  space for my big camera too. I also got the coupons, but it was later on that day with my own quarters ; )

Then after the girls were in bed Doug prepared the most amazing meal as I sat on the barstool watching him while sipping pinot noir and listening to opera. It was a great Mother’s Day weekend thanks to my girls and Doug!
